- The legendary GO board range remains the planet's most popular all around design concept since the original version shocked the windsurfing world in 1998. Now Starboard presents the new ULTRA COMPACT GO board line which again will have people shaking their heads until they come back from a test ride with a smile almost as wide as the board board's width.
"Looks like a caravan ,drives like a PORSCHE" Windsurfing magazine USA.
They were the first ever ultra-wide short boards, and for 2003 the concept is redesigned in radical Starboard style with vastly increased user friendliness.
Planing thresholds have been lowered further and stability improved by increasing the maximum width by up to 20 cm for the largest version. Board speed is increased by a higher rocker line, modified tail and cutaways. The 2003 GO boards are more comfortable and forgiving than ever, thanks to the deeper double concave bottom shape.
One of our challenges was to make a great jibing ultra-wide board. The subsequent design features a thin tail with plenty of outline curve and a 45 degree bevel rail continuing all the way aft. The result is a board eager to jibe which planes up particularly early.
The bonus is a super stable platform to enjoy a light wind cruise and a great tool to learn windsurfing on. The 4 new sizes cater for every conceivable combination of body weight and sailing conditions. The trademark GO soft EVA deck provides extra comfort.
The construction of the GO boards is a sturdy yet light sandwich lay up, keeping the board stiff and durable. The foot strap insert positions are optioned for 3 skill levels; center and forward for the novice, center and back for the intermediate, and off center and back for the advanced sailor.
