- Starboard continues to push the limits of windsurfing by introducing the second generation of freestyle boards. They are shorter, wider and lighter. Last year's FreeSex boards designed by Ben Severne and Svein were clearly voted the fastest and best accelerating freestyle boards by German Surf, the world's largest windsurfing magazine.
- For 2003, we have given them an even tighter turning radius by rounding off the tail section and reducing the volume in the tail area. These shorter boards with pinched-in tail outline and added nose and tail rocker offer a comfortable, but lively, ride and are especially easy to pop off the water. They feature a lifted tail section "spoiler" which aids landing manoeuvres backwards in choppy water. This year we located center rear straps on both boards and specified the adjustable US fin box system to allow for the best fin position for any condition.
With cooperation from Airinside's Stefan Waechli, Starboard developed an even more radical version of the FreeSex 97 in hollow technology. Introducing the 97 in breakthrough super light Space technology brings freestyle sailing to new performance levels.
