Kevin Pritchard injured

Just as the season gets started, 2002 PWA Wave World Champion and 2002 Formula World Champion Kevin Pritchard (Starboard, Gaastra, The Team, Camaro, Kaenon) has broken his right foot. The injury came from doing a backside 360 off the lip, at Hookipa Beach Park.

"I am super disappointed, but what can I say. I was out doing a backside 360 and my foot got stuck in the footstrap, backwards over the falls, stretching all the ligaments as well as fracturing a couple bones. I have trained harder this year than any other year. I want to win and I will do whatever it takes to win. When you are out training, you push yourself to elevate your sailing and things happen. I will be back soon, stronger and faster. Sometimes things like these put it all in perspective, get your focus, and give you the burning desire to put in those extra hours. I have been reading Lance Armstrong's book and it has really put it into perspective. Four weeks off sailing is little in the real picture. Life is good! It is also good to see that Wotjeck and Dorota are holding up the Starboard Flag in Italy. Good job over there guys." said Kevin resting at his Maui home."

Kevin won the first Eurocup of the season at Porto Santo, only to get injured a week later. It is every athletes nightmare, but we know Kevin will be back focused and strong in time for the major part of the events this year,- although he will not be able to defend his European title in France. It is unfortunately a part of the game, and we can only wish him the very best and a quick recovery.
