Thanks to our cutting edge development crew, the world's largest racing squad, an international network of top notch shops and an army of loyal sailors, our dream of seeing more people windsurfing the world over is becoming a reality.

The 2003 range is clearly dedicated to various styles of windsurfing and weather conditions. Sailors around the world come in all shapes and sizes and with our expanded 2003 line we plan to cater for just that, ensuring that anyone regardless of size, gender or age will have a great time windsurfing.

The new 1.1 meter wide START is now as easy to learn on as riding a bike. Our new ultra-wide, ultra-short Formula boards race and plane in winds down to 5 knots. The extremely versatile and fashionable new GO boards bridge the gap between START and Formula for the seasoned windsurfer.

The Hypersonic development program delivers the next generation of competitive slalom boards, helping this ever popular class regain attention of competitive and recreational sailors alike and re-igniting excitement and participation in international and regional regattas. Newly updated World Championship winning Sonic boards feature enhanced high-speed rideability and control.

Our Carve range, which 4 years ago visibly set the future standard for wider and shorter freeride boards, has been fully upgraded with 6 brand new shapes emphasizing superior performance with higher top end speed and control, a livelier ride and tighter jibes.

The complete range of Acid wave boards was rated by US Windsurfing magazine as the top choice for pro riders, and clearly the best pure wave riding boards available. The new FreeSex range introduces first-rate freestyle boards, and in collaboration with Stefan Waechli, a durable hollow version at the lowest possible weight.

The Diva women's program expands with the addition of the DIVA 62, Jennifer Henderson's top wave board choice, and the DIVA 147, with which Dorota Staszewka will continue her world domination in the Formula class. The FreeFormula range, another "first" from Starboard, expands with 3 new faster, easier jibing models offered for the first time in optional Wood Technology. The FISH range embraces many of the innovative concepts introduced and developed by Starboard to package "real world" practicality into a wave board.

The Windsurfing development plan, Community Racing series, START racing programs and the Junior and Youth Formula Windsurfing class all address the significant need for visibility and participation from local to international level. These are concepts developed and supported by Starboard.

A research team including celebrities like Jim Drake, co-inventor of windsurfing and the designer of the aircraft holding the world speed record, and young engineers like Tiesda You, Ben Severne, and Nimit Pormjan, ensures that Starboard will continue producing the best boards in the world.

Our matchless art crew, Koltd and Kriang have again put together our catalog presentation.

Thanks are especially due to my long time friend Tor Bakke, who manages the world's most visited windsurfing web site, Ian Fox who leads our technical web response program, Roger Jackson and Ellen Faller who ARE the Start Windsurfing project and Adam Clarke, the force behind the Windsurfing Development Plan and the Community Racing series.

Finally, our sales manager Joe Dumrongvivat has been the corner stone in building what has become the world's leading windsurfing board producer in just 7 short but aggressive years.

Svein Rasmussen

Svein started windsurfing in 1978 and won the Mistral Worlds in 1983, he was a gold medallist candidate for the 1984 Olympics and spent 10 years on the PWA pro circuit. In 1991 he became the first sailor to have won all disciplines in the IFCA Production-board Class Worlds.

Every Starboard master board is tested by Svein before it gets verified for production. Svein is as the sole owner of the brand he founded in 1994, still involved in overlooking every step of the Starboard concept from shaping to shipping.
